So I was waiting for a fellow blogger friend Nisha of Look Who Is Cooking Too at the Southbank Centre. I was waiting, minding my own business, checking my phone, occasionally gazing at the Thames regally flowing by, occasionally checking out the people enjoying themselves on a sunny London afternoon, when I spied this pop-up greenhouse. Now that looked interesting, so I strolled over. OMG I discovered this lovely space filled with gunny bag after gunny bag of herbs. Some had descriptions, some did not. It did not matter, I felt as if I have been transported into a specialised herb shop, right in the middle of the touristy hustle & bustle of Southbank. Back home I did some digging and found out that this summer the Southbank Centre is hosting the Festival of Neighbourhood--a celebration of people and places that surround us. I could not resist taking a few photographs which I must share with you. Check them out and then we can drool over these beauties together, maybe over a mug of tea?
Fresh and vibrant, ready to flavour any food to make it irresistible! Also these herbs have great medicinal qualities!
Not only flavouring, these herbs can be used to garnish plates & bowls of food to make food look appetising & colourful!
Gooseberry trifle with bay and elderflower jelly? Oh why not!
Sage, lavender, mint....some of the herbs I could easily identify!
And these cute wooden labels, not only labelling the herb, but giving giving a recipe suggestion as well.
